Stripes in the Master Bedroom • Reveal

Yesterday, I went to work at painting the stripes in our Master Bedroom. While the prep work was the most time consuming, I found that once everything had been taped and sealed it was easy.

The best part about this was that the makeover was free. I used the paint of the existing wall color that was left behind in the basement. The bedding and pillows were in our linen closet already.

Here is a before:

and one more after:

Now to work on the rest of the room!

Restoration Hardware Inspired objects d'art

While browsing blogs I found this great tutorial. I decided I had to try it. I'm currently working on decorating/organizing my office. So, I went to the thrift store, and purchased a bag of books for $2.99. There wasn't a great selection of older books at our thrift store, so I did the best I could to find the oldest looking books that were approximately the same size.

As you can see I started with more books than I finished with. Once I started taking off the covers, some of the books had colored bindings. I then used plain white string to hold individual pages together and twine to secure the whole grouping. I wish I had brought home some more books to make a larger grouping but for now it works.

The above picture is the Restoration Hardware objects d'art. They are priced at $29 a bundle. At 90% off the price I think I'll settle for my re creation.
